Assessment Criteria and Evaluation Philosophy

As this is predominantly a project-based class, I assess the students based on a set of project specific rubrics.  Each project is evaluated with a unique project rubric as well as with this general rubric.

Often the students will conduct a peer review and critique as well as a self evaluation,
both of which will be integrated into the final grade.

After we discuss the criteria in class, the students will have access to the
rubrics through this website so they understand and

recognize what the skills, objectives and expectations are for each project.

Occasionally I do give quizzes and tests. Students will have plenty of time to prepare.

I am more interested in what the students learn when they participate in a program such as this and how they express this knowledge. Students are graded individually based on their individual capabilities and prior knowledge. I look for growth in knowledge, communicational skills, collaborative skills and professionalism as well as creativity.
