Your child can expect to find homework assignments Monday through Thursday nights for both ELA and MATH. Homework assignments will reinforce skills taught during the school day and ideally be finished independently. Homework should take students no more than 30 minutes to complete.
Set up a place in your home where your child can try their homework on their own. When homework is complete, check it and review difficult concepts with your child. When you are satisfied that your child's homework is correct and neat, please sign his/her assignment book. Please write me a quick note to let me know if your child struggled with a particular homework assignment. I will check your child's assignment book daily for signatures and any notes from parents/guardians.
If a student forgets his/her ELA homework or workbook, parents can help their child sign into www.thinkcentral.com to print out a copy of the assignment. Each student should know their sign-in information and have it located in their assignment book. You may want to make a copy of this password at home, as well, in case your child forgets their assignment book.
If a child is missing the worksheet for math, they can call a friend to see if they can get a photo of it to complete on a separate piece of paper or print it out at home. They will still receive full credit for completion.
If a child is missing homework, they will lose 5 points from their homework grade and one more day to complete the assignment. If the assignment is not completed during the second day, the student will sit at recess to complete the missing work.
Students are responsible for all work missed due to absences. If your child is absent, missed work will be on their desk when they return. The student will have as many days to complete missed work as they were out of the classroom. I will try to give time in class to complete missed work or allow the weekends to finish, when ever possible.
