Summertime Vibes
Summer is a great time to plan some time together with your children. Here are some economically friendly ideas. Enjoy!
Backyard Events:
- Pitch a tent and camp under the stars. This is an oldie but a goodie.
- Organize a scavenger hunt for the kids. There are plenty of ways to set up a scavenger hunt for the kids.
- Invite the neighborhood kids over for a luau or other themed party
Food Related:
- Go to a local farmers market. Easton Farmer Market- Take the kids to a local farmers market to pick out some fresh produce for dinner. Not only will it get them out of the house, but you can take the opportunity to teach them about healthy eating and good food choices!
- Plant a garden. If you don’t have a space for it, allow the kids to grow some veggies in small pots. The dollar store has seeds and pots.
- Have a bonfire and backyard feast. This is another oldie but a goodie. This summer is a great opportunity to pass the memory onto your kids!
- Sign the kids up for a cooking class. ( They have one at Shoprite) Then let them cook a meal for the family.
Field Trips:
- Go for a hike, and take a picnic.( Meryl Creek) When everyone has a free day, take the family to a nearby park or forest for a hike and picnic adventure
- Volunteer together. ( Norwescap Food Bank) It’s a great opportunity to teach them valuable lessons and can serve as a bonding experience for you all as well.
- Visit a new local museum or educational attraction.
- Go to an outdoor movie.(Lopatcong has weekly outdoor movies in the park)
- Attend a kids workshop (Michaels, Home Depot or Lowes)
Wishing you all a relaxing and safe summer. See you all August 31st.
