Match student skill deficits with intervention strategies.
Using DIBELS data as an example, we learn to draw out student skill deficits and assign intervention strategies. We use OnCourse MTSS to invite our interventionists, teachers, and parents to collaborate on supporting these students.
Streamlining Student Support with OnCourse MTSS
Identifying and addressing student skill gaps is a key part of effective intervention, but juggling multiple data sources can make the process overwhelming. Today, we worked with a school district that uses DIBELS, i-Ready, and IXL to track student progress. Their goal? To consolidate this data and pinpoint the skills that interventionists should focus on.
Bringing Data Together
We started by opening OnCourse MTSS and heading to the Screening tab. By pulling up the DIBELS report, we could instantly see the skills assessed at the beginning of the year. Sorting through the data, it was clear that some students needed additional support in oral reading fluency.
Assigning Strategies to Students
From there, we selected students with similar needs and used the Actions button to assign a student strategy. Since we were targeting fluency, we typed it into the system and chose an effective intervention—Echo Reading.
With just a few clicks, we customized the intervention, assigned it to an interventionist, set a timeline, and defined progress monitoring methods. Now, the interventionist, Tyra Starkey, can access student data, track progress, and leave notes—all in one place.
A Smarter Way to Manage MTSS
This is just one piece of a larger, comprehensive approach to student support. If you’re looking to streamline your MTSS process and make intervention more effective, reach out—we’d love to show you how it works!
