Since being founded in Gibbstown, NJ, the OnCourse SIS quickly became the state's most innovative Student Information System provider.

How OnCourse Helps New Jersey Districts Succeed

Keeping Schools In Sync with NJDOE

The NJDOE is never short on new initiatives and we are proud of being in a state that is continuously breaking new ground. It can, however, be taxing for schools to keep up.

It’s why the entire OnCourse SIS was architected to help make NJDOE reporting as efficient as possible. Our NJSMART reporting suite is comprehensive, with push-button reports for ASSA, Fall Survey, Course Roster Submissions, State Assessment Administration, and tons more. Our agile, cloud-based system makes it lightning-fast to react to reporting changes.

Our Growing Community of NJ Schools

We are partnered with 240 New Jersey school districts and hold regular regional meet-ups to brainstorm new ideas and technology.

By joining our community, you’ll gain access to online NJSMART Jam sessions, a NJSMART mailing list, and an OnCourse Community forum for meeting with other data managers.

Improve Protection from Cyberattacks

Cyberattacks targeting New Jersey schools have hit historic levels. Server-based SIS products that were popular in the 2000s-2010s have proven to be vulnerable to a new wave of cyberthreats.

OnCourse’s cloud-based system offers a range of protections that harden a school’s student data posture and provide comprehensive disaster recovery features that preserve and restore access rapidly.

Frequent Questions

How quickly does OnCourse react to NJSMART changes?

OnCourse is in regular contact with the NJDOE and NJSMART teams. We receive every broadcast and webinar, then work diligently to provide efficient SIS tools to streamline every submission. Because OnCourse is a 100% cloud-based platform, updates can be deployed instantly across our user base. Urgent changes can go out same-day, if necessary. This agility helps OnCourse districts keep their data and workflows prepped well in advance of submission windows.

How do we make large-scale data updates when state reporting requirements change?

When minor changes occur to data specifications, OnCourse may opt to update codes or exports with no user intervention necessary. When new fields or values are introduced, OnCourse power users can use the "Batch Update" utility to either a) execute mass changes online or b) import a spreadsheet.

Does OnCourse handle big federal requirements like CRDC or P-EBT?

Yes. When federal requirements arise, OnCourse often provides push-button extracts to make your reporting easier. For the Civil Rights Data Collection, the OnCourse report crunches more than 5000 different data points into a much simpler extract.

How does OnCourse reduce errors in our submissons?

Every workflow facilitated in OnCourse, from enrollment to scheduling to grading, was designed with data validation in mind. Our philosophy is to keep bad data from getting into the system in the first place, rather than catching and cleaning data later. In addition to system-wide validations, the district can activate more than 100+ different validation rules to achieve consistency across most reported data.
